INDIAN RECIPE: Rasam Masala

A heart-warmingly spicy yet, light, soup-like dal, Rasam is a must at the table in South Indian Homes. It can be eaten with plain boiled rice or drunk as a flavoursome soup.
Ingredients for Rasam Masala:
- 1 tbsp Black Pepper
- 2 tbsp Chana Daal seeds
- 2 tbsp Coriander Seeds
- 4-5 Red Chillies
- 1 tsp Asafoetida(optional)
- 3 tbsp Coconut (grated)
- 2 tbsp Ghee
Directions for making Rasam Masala:
- Roast black pepper, chana daal, coriander, and asafoetida.
- Add chillies when daal starts getting red.
- If using dry coconut, soak it in a little water. Blend the daal mixture and coconut until the paste is fine. Keep aside.
